When you work in black and white with high contrast as I do the snow makes everything come out flat. I know there are photographers who has made/makes it work (like Christer Strömholm) but I'm just not feeling it.
So I retreat into studio work for now and take the opportunity to practice my portrait skills.
I've found sculptures to be the best models when I practice. They don't move, they don't flinch, they seldom think the photos turn out ugly and I get to try out different ways of using the natural light, angles and play with focal points.
You'll find the photos from today's session on the Studio page.
As always this session had a soundtrack, Mark Lanegan Band's Blues Funeral. One of my all time favorite artists and voices but also a person whose portrait I'd love to take.
